Anna Papageorgiou, Ass. Prof.
Anna Papageorgiou now works and the European Union, as project officer. During her evening hours, she helps to finish her previous research. She was a senior scientist at the Cardiology Department, Maastricht University and an affiliated researcher at the KULeuven, Belgium. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Pharmacology from University College London in 1999. She went on to complete a Masters Degree in Immunology from Imperial College, London (2000) and a PhD Degree in the medical sciences from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium (2007). After a post-doctoral position at University College London she joined the group of Professor Stephane Heymans in April 2009. Her current research investigates the contribution of matricellular proteins to heart disease, with a particular focus on viral myocarditis. She currently supervises 3 PhD students and a Masters student and the organization of the Heymans laboratory at the KULeuven.
